We started The Learning Farm to create a space for community; to educate others in art, mindfulness and sustainability. We want The Learning Farm to be an accessible space for all who need it; to learn skills that you can carry with you in life when you leave the farm. 

 

Our Story

The Orange Cats: Where it All Began

For the past two years, our family has worked tirelessly to bring life back to what we now call The Learning Farm. Every piece of trash we remove carries a weight - a small piece of hope that we can restore the land back to a state that it once existed, one where it is loved and cherished.

It started in May 2024; the day we picked up the keys for the farm house. A flash of orange here, a flash of orange there.. and oh! What is that tiny mewing sound? 

We pushed through the mounds of forgotten newspapers, decade old jam jars and tires to find a box filled with tiny orange kittens. Little did we know, there were many more orange surprises waiting for us! After our search of the land we discovered that the previous owners had left us 21 orange barn cats - some of which were friendly, and some of which were very feral.

Through our journey, we have watched flowers bloom and pollinators return. Every day that we feel the wind blow through the fields and the trees at The Learning Farm, we remember how much we can learn from the land, and from each other!

At The Learning Farm, we have backgrounds in Education and Mental Health Awareness. It is very important to us that we foster an inclusive and accessible environment. If there is anything that we can do to improve yours and others' experiences at the farm, we would love to listen with an open ear!
